Jonathon Lebovitz, MD is a fellowship trained neurosurgeon at Neurosurgical Associates of Southwestern Connecticut. In addition to providing comprehensive treatment in all aspects of neurosurgery, he specializes in the treatment of complex cerebrovascular disease including aneurysms, vascular malformations and acute stroke.
Dr. Lebovitz was raised in Wilmette, Illinois and graduated from New Trier Township High School. He then attended Colgate University where he graduated with a degree in Biology. After graduating from Colgate, he began his postgraduate training, earning a Master of Science in Anatomy and Physiology from Georgetown University in Washington, DC.
Dr. Lebovitz went on to receive his medical degree from Saint Louis University School of Medicine in Saint Louis, MO. He continued training at his home institution, where he completed his surgical internship and residency in Neurological Surgery at Saint Louis University. There, he was awarded the position of Chief Resident in Neurosurgery. During this time, he gained exceptional experience in providing treatment for a wide range of complex neurosurgical conditions. This allows him to offer conservative and advanced surgical treatment of complex spine and cranial abnormalities including trauma, tumors, and hemorrhage. He utilizes minimally invasive techniques to perform spinal decompressions, spinal fusions, brain and spinal cord tumor treatments, and intracerebral hemorrhage evacuations.
After residency, he completed advanced subspecialty training in open Cerebrovascular and Endovascular Neurosurgery at the prestigious Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. There he mastered state of the art treatment of stroke, aneurysms, AVMs, cavernomas, carotid artery stenosis, intracerebral hemorrhage and other neurovascular disorders. His training allows him to employ all available treatment methods for these problems, including open and minimally invasive endovascular techniques. He is one of only a few surgeons in the country who is proficient at performing these procedures through the radial artery, allowing patients to undergo surgery in the safest way possible.
Dr. Lebovitz resides in Ridgefield, CT with his wife and two daughters. He has operative privileges at Danbury and Norwalk hospitals, and is currently accepting new patients at offices in both locations. Dr. Lebovitz is an active member of Congress of Neurological surgeons and the American Association of Neurological surgeons.
