Gina Porto

Gina Porto grew up in Tipp City Ohio where she graduated from Tippecanoe High School in 2008. From there, she chose to attend Mount Vernon Nazarene University where she earned a Bachelors of Science in Biology in 2012 with Magna Cum Laude honors.

After college, Gina lived in Papua New Guinea and volunteered at a mission hospital. During her time volunteering in the operating room, she gained interest in both medicine and surgery. From there, Gina decided to pursue becoming a surgical Physician Assistant. With continued interest in serving abroad, she then chose to attend Trevecca Nazarene University, a program with several connections to international missions. While she was a student, she was fortunate enough to go back to Papua New Guinea and served in the same mission hospital. In 2016, she earned her Masters of Science in Medicine from Trevecca Nazarene University in 2016 near the top of her class.

With a strong interest in surgery, Gina was accepted into the highly regarded Surgical Residency Program for Physician Assistants at Norwalk Hospital and Yale School of Medicine. It is there that her curiosity for neurosurgery quickly grew. She had the pleasure of learning from Dr. Batson, Dr. Shahid, Dr. Sanderson and Dr. Marcus during residency. She was honored when they asked her to join their practice upon completion of her residency. She graciously accepted and became apart of Neurosurgical Associates of Southwestern Connecticut in October 2017.
